Solange was born in Haiti and later adopted by a loving family. She is the youngest of five siblings. At the age of four, she was brought to the United States and raised in Coventry and Manchester, Connecticut. She later moved to New York to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she studied fashion design—ultimately making New York her home. She also built a career as a soft goods still-life stylist, working both freelance and full-time with J.Crew.
From a young age, Solange had a deep love for art, but it was in adulthood that she fully recognized her talent as a true gift from God. She is a self-taught artist who primarily works in mixed media, incorporating recycled materials such as crochet, rubber bands, , fabric, collage, and acrylic paint. Her work often features 3D embellishments, and she is known for embedding a hidden heart within each piece—a playful and meaningful signature that reflects her intention of spreading love. She also frequently incorporates bold red lips as a recognizable signature element in her work. Her art celebrates women’s strength, self-love, self-expression, and resilience, often centered around her recurring theme, “Hair Is My Crown.”
Her artistic style is bold, textured, and vibrant, drawing inspiration from fashion, landscapes, and the world around her—truly finding muse in anything and everything. She also explores wearable art, creating hand-designed and painted denim jackets that merge fashion and fine art into expressive, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Solange has exhibited her work in numerous shows at Fountain House Gallery, including Mushrooms, Breaking Bondage, Comic Art, Small Works, Red, Life’s a Party, and the Fountain House Gallery Benefit (2023), as well as the 25th Anniversary Gala (2026), among many others. She has also showcased her work at Artexpo New York (2025 and 2026), the Outsider Art Fair, and with Agora Gallery (AGI Fine Art) in Chelsea, where she participated in exhibitions such as Summer City Idyll, New York, I Love You, and Artexpo New York. Additionally, she has exhibited in Yasss Queen at LIC-A The Factory in Long Island City.
In addition to her exhibitions, Solange received an honorable mention for her first wood carving sculpture at the Art Students League of New York, where she created a bold red lip piece titled “Pucker Up Baby.” She also creates commissioned works, collaborating with collectors to bring meaningful, personalized pieces to life. Solange’s work continues to evolve, while always reflecting her desire to bring her imagination and creativity to life, always with love.
